Organised as a joint initiative of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Association of Remote Sensing Laboratories (EARSeL), the workshop aimed to foster the wider uptake of Earth Observation (EO) technologies in the protection, management, conservation and dissemination of natural and cultural heritage. Bringing together experts from different disciplines, the workshop addressed the monitoring and preservation of cultural and natural heritage, improved access to heritage data, emerging technologies, climate-related risks and opportunities for future applications.

As part of the scientific programme, Dr. Tamer Özalp delivered an oral presentation in the New Techniques session entitled “Monitoring of Cultural Heritage Assets in 3D+ Virtual Space: An Approach by Using AIDL4CH.”

As part of the scientific programme, Dr. Tamer Özalp delivered an oral presentation in the New Techniques session entitled “Monitoring of Cultural Heritage Assets in 3D+ Virtual Space: An Approach by Using AIDL4CH.”

The presented AIDL4CH approach introduced an innovative methodological framework integrating Earth Observation technologies with Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twins and advanced 3D/4D visualisation methods for the monitoring and preservation of cultural heritage assets. The approach aims to support more effective identification of changes and potential threats affecting cultural heritage assets and to contribute to preventive conservation processes.

Throughout the two-day programme, Dr. Tamer Özalp and F. Nil Özalp engaged with international researchers and experts working in Earth Observation and cultural and natural heritage, exchanging views on emerging technologies, heritage monitoring and preservation, and opportunities for future research and project collaborations.
